5.3 Class blog
We are open-minded, balanced, caring, knowledgeable, principled, thinkers and inquirers, who communicate, take risks, and reflect on our actions. Follow our journey on our final year of the PYP.
Being in the finding out stage ourselves, it was an excellent opportunity to visit Nexus School's PYP exhibition! We asked a lot of questions to the students who were nearing the completion of their 8 week journey. Since ours was nearer to the beginning we had the opportunity to reflect on our own direction in the exhibition and to imagine what our end results may look like. We were impressed with the action component of their exhibition, which took the students to many places throughout Singapore!

Now we are arranged into our topic groups! First thing we did was make a mindmap of what questions we wanted to focus on in our individual topics. We decided on a focus for our topic and from there developed questions that we could answer. We used the key concepts to help us formulate those questions and are now in the process of gathering information to answer them. We are all finding this a challenging, yet rewarding process. Once our reports are finished we are aiming to begin the sorting out stage of our exhibition, where we will decide how to best reflect our learning for our audience and where we can take action!
The time is finally here! We are beginning to tune into our Exhibition and our Central Idea: Our Actions Change the Future. Using the inspiration from our visitors' passion talks, we began thinking of our own passions through sentence starters that got us thinking. From there, we broke apart each Transdisciplinary Theme and thought about the topics that would be covered within each. Investigating the TD topics further, we connected our passions to them and could identify further interests. We used cocentric circles to dig deeper into our chosen interests, helping us identify issues within our passions that we can investigate and take action on. Using the 5 Whys technique we could identify the issues and why they are important even further. We are excited to take action in our interests! |
