Hi my name is Keita.
For our new Unit of Inquiry we will be focusing on How the World Works. To help us understand the scientific method we are using it for an experiment. We did an egg experiment using science yesterday, because we  want to see how eggs will react to sitting in different liquids for a prolonged period of time.We used 200 ml of coca cola, 200 ml of vinegar, 200ml of coffee and 3 cups to hold the  eggs in. One egg is left out as the control egg. We will observe the eggs for a week to see how they react.
Our hypothesis is a guess to what may happen to the eggs in different liquid.
I thought coffee will make the egg black, vinegar will make the egg slime, and coca cola will melt the egg. I am excited to see what will happen.

Our Stories of Migration

For our 'Where We are in Place and Time' unit of inquiry we investigated one of our lines of inquiry by mapping our own family migration stories. We gathered information from our families by interviewing on the phone, skype, facetime, email, and face to face. We then used our creativity and skills in mapping to communicate our stories, particularly investigating our key concepts of causation and change: why did our relatives migrate, what changes did they make in their lives? Within our presentations we included our own personal migration stories which were incredibly varied, and sometimes extremely complex, which showcased what true global citizens we have at ISS.

Well done 5.3, I'm very proud of your communication skills, as well as your curiosity, confidence, and independence in this project.

The Tallest Tower...

Blog post by David and Kanji:
I am Kanji (in the middle). Our challenge was to build a tower made out of straw and tape. we had 18 minutes to finish a tower that a tennis ball can sit on. First we made a plan and we followed it. We worked very well as a team.

I am David and I am the one using two tapes to make glasses. I helped cut the tape and the staws. First we made a small square to put the tennis ball on. We used a triangle to make it strong because it is the strongest shape. To make that tower was difficult. We finished one whole tape! We made a wonderful tower.

Hooray for teamwork!
